Wandersong to Bring Unique Music Action to PC/Mac

Dumb and Fat Games is at work on a new rhythm/platforming title for PC and Mac, with plans to make the title available in early 2018. The game had a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2016, and the game has progressed to the point where Bemanistyle was able to preview the first section of the game.

The game’s story centers around a lowly bard, who must use singing to help others, and, ultimately, the world. According to the official Wandersong game web page:

“In the beginning, the universe was set into motion by the music of the goddess Eya. Now, as she does every epoch or so, she’s planning to sing a new song and reset existence. One lowly bard sets off on a journey to preserve the world by collecting pieces of a mysterious melody called the Earthsong.”

The title is already shaping up, with charming storybook-style visuals and an equally-appropriate fantasy approach to the music and sound. Even in the first segment, the game is constantly providing players new ways to use the bard’s signing, so hopefully this is something that will continue over the scope of the game.  Players can use singing to manipulate the environment, solve puzzles, access new areas and interact with other people. Each form of interaction requires different types of input with the right analog stick, providing some variety to the title.

Wandersong is aiming to be a full-scale adventure, and the game’s preview allows for a fair amount of freedom. The preview didn’t have linear stages, but, instead, a town hub that connected a few other areas to where the bard could wander. We’re not aiming to spoil most of the game’s content, but we will follow the development of Wandersong as it progresses. As it stands, Wandersong is molding into a charming and unique rhythm/platforming game that should be put on the radar of fans of the genre.
