The supernatural school antics of Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun will continue when the anime series starts its second season in April. NHK released a new key visual and announced the new opening theme song on Monday.
The boy band DA PUMP, which did the first season OP ‘Magical Babyrinth’, will return with a new OP, No! No! Satisfaction!
In 2019, I really enjoyed this goofy comedy series (aka Mairimashita! Iruma-kun), which wonderfully parodied both slice-of-life school anime comedies, and more serious anime franchises such as The Misfit of Demon King Academy. Instead of a powerful magic chessmaster like Anos Voldigoad, the series featured the pitifully ordinary fish-out-of-water human Iruma-kun (Ayumu Murase). Iruma would probably have died in the first episode of the anime if he didn’t have amazing dumb luck, unusual survival skills, and a lot of help from his ‘grandfather,’ the demon headmaster Sullivan (Takaya Kuroda).
The Iruma-kun anime series featured a lot of fun characters, including the hyper, weird, and bubbly demon girl Clara Valac (Ayaka Asai); and Iruma’s loyal companion Alice ‘Azz’ Asmodeus (Ryohei Kimura). The first season ended with Iruma deciding to stay in the Netherworld, despite getting an offer to return home. It seems that Iruma is starting to get used to his unusual demon life.
The Osamu Nishi manga series that the TV anime is adapted from is still ongoing, with volume 20 coming out on 8 March, followed by volume 21 on 8 April. So, there’s obviously plenty of material that they can adapt for season 2.
The second season of the Iruma-kun anime will start on 17 April. Crunchyroll has the first season, if you need to catch up.
