The world’s most famous hedgehog has been making some serious moves in the world of entertainment and fashion world as of late. On top of his recent movie teaser causing a stir, and after a highly successful collaboration with Nakano-based Thunderbox earlier this year, a new collection from streetwear heavy hitters XLARGE speeds by just in time for the new year. And what a collection this new drop is, it’s pretty clear that Sega is taking the fashion market seriously as of late and this addition is no exception.
Just in time for the blue blur’s 18th birthday, this new collection features a variety of pieces featuring Sonic from different eras of his lifespan. Classic Mega Drive/Genesis Sonic, Dreamcast era Sonic & Tails, and current-gen Sonic all show face across a small, but diverse range of products that went on sale January 1st. While they’re currently only available in Japan at XLARGE retail locations and their online store, if you’re impatient, inventory is still available in a variety of sizes and colorways if you can figure out how to get your hands on them. Otherwise, the US website for the brand mentions the collection as coming sometime in January. Each piece is going to set you back a little bit though with prices starting at around $70 across the collection.
My personal favorite pieces in this collection are the blue varsity jacket and the grey crew neck, mostly due to my preference towards those particular eras for the character. Overall though I feel like even with the size of the collection as a whole, it has something to offer everyone in terms of design and is surely the kind of collaboration that keeps both streetwear enthusiasts and Sonic The Hedgehog fans looking fresh.
Even with separate drops being timed for Japan and the US, we’re positive this collaboration is going to be one you want to move quickly on because given the subject matter it should be pretty apparent that these pieces are gonna go fast.
