Announced Tuesday, Japanese character goods company Movic will be collaborating with popular animated series Yu-Gi-Oh to bring the Millennium Puzzle and it’s Golden Chest from the series’ first season to life. The Millennium Puzzle played a key-role in the series, acting as a catalyst for the main story. The series opens with Yugi piecing together the Millennium Puzzle his grandfather gifted him, only to awaken the resting pharaoh, Yami Yugi, in the process.
The Millennium Puzzle, which is set to be a 1:1 scale replica of the animated original, will be priced at roughly $100 USD, while the Golden Chest will come in at about $120 USD. Both items are crafted using zinc alloy, with the distributor noting that this was the best choice for a “realistic cosplay feel”. The Golden Chest will weigh a total of 1kg (2.2lbs), and the Millennium Puzzle will weigh 400g (0.88lbs).
Yu-Gi-Oh! originally aired in April 2000, with its current season ‘Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V’ airing on TV Tokyo. The franchise received a 2016 film in Japan titled ‘Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions’, which was later screened in North American cinemas via Screenvision Media and 4k Media. The latest film took viewers back to the series roots, building on the story of Yugi Muto and rival Seto Kaiba.
